About this Show
Is This Adulting? is a podcast dedicated to breaking the stigma on mental illness through the lens of comedy. Every week, two longtime best friends sit down to discuss their mental health struggles, while engaging with their listeners through random topics of discussion, fun games, silly segments, interviewing guests, and being a resource for those seeking a safe space or a good laugh.Whether they are discussing how to be supportive of your friends with mental illnesses or which fast food mascot is the most terrifying, they aim to relate to their listeners and be genuine in their effort to navigate adulthood.
Steven and Chris have been close friends for upwards of a decade. They survived the sketchiest house imaginable in college, have had countless phone conversations from sketchy restaurant bathrooms, and are here for your entertainment. While they get serious from time to time and discuss mental health issues (which both have struggled with), they never take themselves too seriously.
Meet the Hosts
Steven lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife Katie and way-too-big Great Pyr named Ghost. Following college he bounced around a lot before settling on podcasting as a career, doing everything from church work, to slinging beer as a vendor.
Following the death of his father, Steven knew he needed to be a voice for the mental health community and knew that a humorous avenue would be an unorthodox, and unique, way to discuss serious issues. His passion lies in people and making sure they feel loved and valued. Podcasting and cultivating community online is where he finds fulfillment and is where he has chosen to focus his time.
Steven is a life-long nerd, rabid coffee consumer, podcast addict, and sometimes-funny person. He is also the host of The Meddling Kids Podcast. When he isn’t hosting, you will usually find him walking around a Target (just to unwind), reading comic books, or going for long walks on the beach… Just kidding. He hates the beach. And long walks.
Chris lives in Winston-Salem, NC with his wife Kate and his dog Auggie. He’s passionate about making the world a better, more joyful, and accepting place. He loves hiking, sports, and all things outside (well when he’s not binge watching Netflix).
He’s the most talkative, detail-oriented, laid back combination of a personality you’ll every meet. Basically he at times can get a little obnoxious…and he’s sorry about that. But he’ll love you so hard you’ll forgive him in the process. And yes…He’s aware that picture of him makes him look like he’s trying to be a model…He is not…so be gentle with him, he’s quite sensitive.
